Bringing the Bush to the City

Over two days in December 2022, the BFTB spirit seemed to drift into Sydney and float across the harbour inviting some (about 15,000!) of our oldest and most treasured BFTB customers to wander around the lawn of the MCA and source some very special Christmas gifts.

Twenty small bush businesses made the journey to our 2022 BFTB Christmas Markets, travelling from Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and all over New South Wales.

A whip-cracking lesson from our very own saddler, Bede Aldrige of Saddler & Co was too tempting for a silver-haired, tuxedo wearing wedding guest at the MCA who was compelled to leave the wedding, wander out onto the lawn and show us that he still had the knack (which he did!!!).

The "Hour For Eugowra" live auction on Saturday brought a saleyard-style country auction to Circular Quay, raising $40,000 for the community of Eugowra and providing a spectacle for all in attendance.

With HUGE thanks to Flemings Auctions and AuctionsPlus, who worked collaboratively to pull off the auction. Particular thanks to Flemings for also sourcing Santa Claus for the day. (Who knew that so many adults would line up to get Santa photos 😆?).

Rennie Adams leant his talents to our efforts for the hour before the auction, which was a bit of a coup! And to the generous individuals and businesses who donated to our Hour For Eugowra Floodraiser, thank you!

Lastly, to Placemaking NSW and all the staff at The Rocks for joining the BFTB train for the week and hosting us!
